Whilst the symbol is easily identified for cyan, magenta and yellow cartridges, the presence of two black inks in some machines can cause confusion. A CMYK printer instead uses light-absorbing cyan, magenta, and yellow inks, whose colors are mixed using dithering, halftoning, or some other optical technique.
